First Visit
When you come in for your first visit as a new patient at Dental Care Center at Kennestone, we hope you will be surprised at the difference in our level of care. We start with making it simple and easy for you to schedule your first visit. Our practice offers online booking and a friendly scheduling staff. You can even save time during your first visit by filling out the new patient forms online before you arrive.
Expect to be greeted by our friendly staff when you walk through the doors. One of our team members will check you in and make sure we have all the information we need to get started caring for your smile. Once we have you checked in, we will alert our dental team that you are ready to begin your appointment. Feel free to use our complimentary Wi-Fi while waiting to be called back for your first checkup.
During Your Appointment
Since it is the first time we will be seeing you, we will want to gain a good understanding of your current oral health. In most cases, we will take digital x-rays unless you brought current x-rays from a former dentist. This only takes a few minutes, and our digital x-rays are quick and safe for our patients.
The next step in your first visit is to spend time with our dental hygienist. A periodontal exam of your gums will be performed to determine the best cleaning plan for your teeth and gums. Most patients require two cleanings a year. However, if any signs of periodontal disease are present, we may recommend more frequent cleanings or gum disease treatment.
Once your periodontal exam and cleaning are complete, you will meet with our dentist. A comprehensive exam will be performed to check for any dental or oral health issues. We also offer oral cancer screenings, which we highly recommend. The dentist will alert you to any issues and go over a suggested treatment plan for your oral care. This is a good time to ask questions and find out more about any elective dental services you are interested in such as teeth whitening, sedation dentistry or dental implants.
