Sedation Dentistry
There is no reason to avoid needed dental treatments due to dental anxiety. At Dental Care Center at Kennestone, we ease the stress of dental procedures for our patients with anxiety using sedation dentistry options. We understand that the thought of undergoing dental procedures can be stressful for some people. Sit back and relax while we care for your smile with our various sedation options.
Oral Conscious Sedation
For those with moderate to high levels of dental anxiety, we offer oral conscious sedation. This method uses an oral sedative that is prescribed before your appointment. Before your appointment, you will be instructed to take this medication to help relax you and put you into a calm state. You will be awake and conscious during your treatment but completely relaxed and at ease. Some people do not remember their treatment, even though they remain awake. Due to the level of sedation, you will need someone to drive you to and from your dental appointment.
Nitrous Oxide
A milder form of sedation we offer is “laughing gas” or nitrous oxide. This helps those with mild dental anxiety relax and feel calm. It can also be used for longer or more invasive procedures to help put you at ease during extended treatments. The gas is safe and can be used for children to help ease their discomfort. The effects wear off quickly, making it safe for those who need to drive after their appointment.
IV Sedation
For a deeper level of relaxation, IV sedation can be used. This puts you into a very relaxed, calm state using medication that is administered through an IV. This can be used for severe dental anxiety or for those undergoing invasive procedures like wisdom tooth removal.
We want you to feel comfortable and at ease while we care for your oral health. Before we use any sedation method, we will ensure that it is safe for you or your family member. Ask about our sedation options during your next appointment. Contact Dental Care Center at Kennestone today.
